Aspen Times Weekly Libation: Hot Buttered Rye

X Games weekend is a big weekend for imbibing in Aspen (though you best know the rules about where you can consume before you head to Buttermilk or walk the streets with a beer in hand). For those on a budget, we suggest pulling up a stool at a local watering hole for a PBR or a shot & a beer. For those with deeper pockets, splurge for the VIP tent right at the event venue, where Woody Creek Distillers will be serving up five different libations, including: a Bloody Mary and the Woody Creek Mule made with WCD vodka; the Mr. Thompson, crafted with WCD gin; and two WCD Rye Whiskey cocktails, the Roaring Fork and a Hot Buttered Rye.

MAKE IT

2 oz Woody Creek Rye Whiskey

1 heaping tablespoon Butter Batter (butter, cinnamon, cloves, brown sugar)

Hot water

Add Rye and Butter Batter to cup. Top with hot water; stir. Garnish with cinnamon stick or infused vanilla bean.
