Man found dead in his Basalt residence

Staff report

A Basalt man was found dead in his apartment on Robison Street in Willits on Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities.

He was identified Thursday as Garrett Henson, 20, of Basalt, according Eagle County Coroner Kara Bettis. She said an autopsy was being performed Thursday and results would be available today. A toxicology test also will be performed.

Police and paramedics were paged to the scene at about 2:30 p.m. after a roommate called 911, according to Basalt Police Chief Greg Knott. Henson was not breathing when authorities arrived, he said. Paramedics attempted CPR, but Henson was pronounced dead on the scene.

Law enforcement officials who first arrived at the apartment advised paramedics that the case was a possible overdose. There was no sign of foul play, Knott said.
