Thunder River thank you
April 13, 2003
Now that we have closed Margaret Edson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Wit,” one of the most successful shows Thunder River Theatre Company has ever produced, we would like to thank all of our supporters, the media included.
We sold out seven of eight performances. Over 25 percent of our theatre patrons drove down from Aspen, acknowledging our organization as a valley-wide professional theatre company.
Thunder River counts on reviews of our shows to inform and help bring in our audience. This was one of the few shows that was not reviewed – yet word of mouth proved review enough. We thank all of our patrons for sharing their theatre experience with others.
Thunder River’s total budget on productions is less than most larger theatres pay for programs and posters, or we would be advertising in all the media. So we thank the valley’s papers and radio stations for running our press releases and announcing our show. With our budget, when it comes to getting the word out, Thunder River Theatre Company needs all the help it can get.
A special thank you to Rita Marsh of Caring Connections, Sue Hakanson of the Roaring Fork Hospice, and Dwight Shellman and the Barbara Ornitz Cancer Challenge Fund for having the insight to know that art can heal as well as educate.
