The Samples to play Snowmass freebie

SNOWMASS VILLAGE ” The Samples, the Boulder-born band whose live shows became a staple of the college circuit after their formation in the late ’80s, will play a free, outdoor concert in Snowmass Village on President’s Day weekend.
The band is up next in this season’s Bud Light Hi-Fi series of concerts in Aspen-Snowmass; The Samples are set to perform Sunday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. on the Snowmass Village Mall.
The Samples sprang from Boulder in 1987 and quickly established themselves on a major label, releasing their eponymous debut on Arista Records, only to go indie and find their true calling on the road.
Hit singles include” Little Silver Ring,” “Feel Us Shaking,” “Did Ya Ever Look So Nice” and “Weight of the World.”
Despite its extensive studio output, the group built a self-proclaimed reputation as one of the best live bands of all time. One pundit labeled the group “the best band you’ve never heard” ” that despite 18 CD releases and counting, and a sizeable fan following.
Original member Sean Kelly, songwriter, lead guitarist and vocalist, tours these days with a reformulated lineup that includes Karl Dietel on keyboards, Bill Mutchler on drums, Dan Blondin on guitar and Jared Johnson on bass.
