Thanks to everybody for everything
February 29, 2004
My name is Peter Olenick and I’m sending out a huge thank you to the Roaring Fork Valley for all those who helped me during the X-Games and also throughout my whole life.
This thank you is extended to all the people who were at the X-Games cheering for me, while freezing your butts off. I could hear you all the way at the top of the course.
It is a thank you to all the little grommets who rip around the park, always reminding me of what the good old days were like.
It goes out to every restaurant owner in the valley who has given me free food: Genre Bistro, Johnny McGuire’s, and of course the Red Rock Diner.
It goes out to Dave Stapelton at Stapelton Sports for dealing with me and my siblings in his shop every day before skiing.
It goes out to the Severy family for not only teaching me how to ski but for teaching me about life. When I was younger I was always trying to do the cool tricks that Jon Severy could do, at the same time I had to make sure that little Chirsty wasn’t out-skiing me, plus I had a crush on Elizabeth ever since the day she tried to push me off the chairlift.
Recommended Stories For You
This goes out to Vince Lahey for picking up where Chuck left off and teaching me about girls. This goes out to all the ski instructors who had to deal with the three of us throwing pickles at tourists in the Merry-Go-Round, and then blaming it on their class.
This goes out to the Flynn family for being my other family, as well as the Boyles and the Frenchs.
I also have to say thank you to my parents, without their support I would never be where I am now. Thank you for raising the three of us as best friends ” we’ll owe you huge some day (Susie and Aaron, you are definitely our parents and deserve just as much credit). Michael and Megan, thanks. I could never have better siblings. Thanks too to Grammy and Poppy for being so incredibly supportive for so many years.
To all my close friends, thanks for telling me I was good even when I sucked. Even if I tried to make you from scratch you wouldn’t be half as good as you are right now. I hope that some day a town somewhere will be ready for all three of us because I know we will live in the same town and probably the same house.
Last, but not least, thank you Roaring Fork Valley for having such great mountains to grow up on and for having such a great park to train in. When you see me driving around in my new Tundra it is all because of you guys, so thank you.
