Editor’s note: Aspen chef Susie Jimenez, a competitor on this year’s “The Next Food Network Star “program, appears here Mondays through the run of the show to discuss her time on the program and what it was like behind the scenes. The program airs Sunday nights on the Food Network.

I didn’t have a great time last week being in the bottom three. What are you going to do except kick some butt next time? I think I did just that. First, we had to get creative with Kellog’s products. Although I had a great appetizer, I did misprounce the name of the actual product I was using. What is wrong with me? Nerves. Michael Symon loved them, and considering he remembered me when I ran into him at Food & Wine, it must mean something. The cast of “Cougar Town” were all beautiful in person and a lot skinnier. I now not only worry about how my food tastes but how many extra pounds the camera puts on. Just kidding! It’s all about the food. How did those chicken and quinoa-stuffed peppers with mole and cojita cheese look? Delicious, and full of soul and flavor. Everyone in the cast loved them, including all the other groups the finalists had to feed. It felt good to come back after last week and show them I have what it takes. I’m back, and I just needed a little kick in the ass. Did you see me sweating when I decided to roast off 150 bell peppers instead of getting them canned? Yeah baby: That’s how it’s done. Next week, we have a awesome episode with Guy Fieri, the winner of Season 2. We are doing a version of “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives,” and then we hit the stage to be the entertainment for a Fourth of July crowd – not just any crowd, a huge crowd. Here comes those nerves again. Let’s see how I do and let’s see who goes home?Local Susie Jimenez is still in the running to being the next Food Network star. So stay tuned and see how she come back next week to make you all proud. In the meantime, keep voting and make her the fan favorite foodnetwork.com/star.
