Support the arts on Aug. 1

Dear Editor:

The community is invited to our annual Red Brick Art Auction and Festival at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Red Brick Center for the Arts, 110 E. Hallam St. The festival features exciting events for all local and visiting lovers of the arts!

The highlights of the day include art demonstrations by local artists, a sidewalk chalk art and poetry display, performances by Aspen Music Festival participants and the Smuggler Bluegrass Band, and at 3 p.m., performances by the Hudson Reed Ensemble and the Aspen Dance Connection. And, of course, our annual fundraiser, the Art Auction, is not to be missed.

You can bid all this week on more than 100 incredible works of art by many talented local artists now on display at the Red Brick Gallery.

Add to that the nearly 100 donated items from many generous local businesses – like hotel stays, dining certificates and merchandise – and this year’s auction should be a great place to find great deals. Bidding ends at 3 p.m., so get there early!

Your participation will help the Red Brick Council for the Arts to achieve its goal of promoting the arts. Our programs throughout the year include: ArtStart, where first- through eighth-grade students’ art is shown; the Red Brick Art Scholarship Award, given to a graduating senior from the Roaring Fork Valley; the Red Brick Gallery, where local artists are able to exhibit; and the Red Brick Resident Artist program, which offers free community art workshops.

Much of what the council does goes unseen. As a behind-the-scenes catalyst, we collaborate with artists from all fields to help make their goals come to fruition. Help us continue in our efforts. This event is our only fundraiser event of the year. Please join us and show support for your local art council.
