Denver Broncos cancel tour stop in Aspen due to winter weather

Broncos cheerleaders cheer to fans after the Denver Broncos Super Bowl 50 victory rally in Civic Center Park on Feb. 9 in Denver. The Denver Broncos canceled their Salute to Fans tour stop in Aspen on Saturday due to a spring snowstorm.

The Denver Broncos announced Thursday that the team will not be coming to Aspen on Saturday for the Salute to Fans tour.

“Due to weather, we have made the decision to cancel this weekend's Salute to Fans Tour stops in Steamboat Springs and Aspen,” according to a statement released Thursday. “We do not feel comfortable traveling through weather in the mountains.”

A late-spring storm left Aspen covered in around 6 inches of snow Thursday morning. The storm is expected to last overnight into Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service, then move out sometime Saturday.

Players from the Broncos, cheerleaders and Miles the mascot were scheduled to be hanging out in Aspen for a few hours on Saturday at Gondola Plaza.

According to a statement from Marisol Villagomez, manager of Fan Development, the Broncos are looking to reschedule the visit.

“At this time the thought is that we will make an attempt to reschedule the visits for some time in the summer, but we must have conversations with all of our partners in order to make that decision.”
