Column: Aspen, Basalt all-league basketball players named

Before high school basketball moves too far into the rearview mirror, honors are due to players at Aspen and Basalt high schools.

Aspen senior Jack Rosenthal was voted to the All-Western Slope League Team this season in voting by the conference coaches.

Also on the all-conference team are two Basalt players: junior Mike Glen and sophomore Raul Torres. They helped the Longhorns, coached by Danny Martinez, advance to the Class 3A Regionals this season.

Wade Soho and Pedro Rivera, both juniors from Basalt, are on the honorable-mention all-conference list.

Aspen’s Tristan Niskanen, a senior, also was voted to the honorable-mention squad. Senior John Parker of Grand Valley led the all-league voting as player of the year. Paul Harvey of Coal Ridge was voted the coach of the year.

Other all-league players: Hunter Gerber of Coal Ridge, Gunner Rigsby of Grand Valley, Brady Wilson of Gunnison, Tanner Magee of Grand Valley, Greyson Keener of Coal Ridge, Gustavo Oliva of Roaring Fork, Dylan Kincade of Moffat County, Aldo Pinela of Roaring Fork, Jake Solinger of Coal Ridge, Keenan Hildebrandt of Moffat County and Daniel Vernon of Olathe.

On the girls all-league team, Basalt junior Carson Knotts led the way for area schools.

Teammate Kaity Johnson of the Longhorns was voted to the all-league honorable-mention team. She’s a senior. Leah Camiletti of Moffat County, a senior, was voted player of the year.

Other all-conference girls: Kylyn Rigsby of Grand Valley, Shelby Anderson of Olathe, Miranda Pacheco of Olathe, Morgan Lawton of Moffat County, Taylor Brown of Olathe, Kayla Pinnt of Moffat County, Josey King of Moffat County, Bailey Rowe of Grand Valley, Allie Dovey of Grand Valley, Jenny Call of Coal Ridge and Emily Mundy of Olathe.

Roaring Fork’s Liliy Ramos and Ashley Hall also made the honorable-mention list this season.

Paul Althaus of Olathe was named the girls coach of the year in the Western Slope League.
