California boarders sweep women’s slopestyle

ASPEN ” A trio of Californians swept the women’s snowboard slopestyle competition Saturday at the Winter X Games at Buttermilk.

Jamie Anderson of South Lake Tahoe grabbed the gold, with Hana Bearman of Big Bear winnng silver and Chanelle Sladics of Newport Beach taking home the bronze.

The 16-year-old Anderson is the youngest competitor at this year’s games and the youngest gold medalist in Winter X Games history. Two years younger than her closes competitor, she has been primed to win slopestyle gold since taking home the bronze in 2006.

“I’ve been wanting to win this forever,” said Anderson, beaming at the finish. “It’s been my goal since I was like nine and I finally got it.”

Defending silver medalist, 24-year old Hana Beaman, repeated her 2006 result. Sladics, at age 22, is competing in her fourth Winter X Games. The slopestyle bronze is her first medal.
