Doug Rohrbaugh, director of golf at Ironbridge Golf Club and former longtime director of Aspen Junior Golf, will play in the Senior PGA Championship in Indiana in two weeks.

Rohrbaugh, a longtime resident of the Roaring Fork Valley, earned entry to the 76th Senior PGA Championship based on his performance at the Greater Gwinnett Championship in Georgia last month when he tied for 15th.

The 2014 Senior PGA Championship will be May 21-24 in French Lick, Indiana. Television coverage will be on the Golf Channel and NBC.

“Doug’s performance at the Greater Gwinnett Championship in Georgia really showcased his ability and what he’s capable of,” said John Young, managing general partner at Ironbridge. “To have that level of success in his first senior tournament is something to be proud of and his experience will only help him at the Senior PGA Championship.”

As a PGA professional for more than 25 years, Rohrbaugh has competed across the United States. He also played the Australian PGA Tour.

Rohrbaugh won the 2013 Colorado Senior Open title and qualified for the Senior U.S. Open.

A 14-time winner of the Colorado PGA West Chapter player of the year honor, Rohrbaugh was selected to the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame as the 2013 Golf Person of the Year.

With more than 40 professional wins on his card, Rohrbaugh started in the area as the executive director of the Aspen Junior Golf Foundation.

He later was director of instruction at River Valley Ranch Golf Club in Carbondale prior to joining Ironbridge, which is located between Carbondale and Glenwood Springs.

Ironbridge, a 7,224-yard course, originally was designed by Arthur Hills on the former Rose Ranch property along the Roaring Fork River.

The semi-private course was refined in 2014 by Tom Lehman.

Rohrbaugh also is the father of Tristan Rohrbaugh, who won a state golf title at Basalt High School two years ago. He’s currently playing at Boise State University.
