Sisu at Spring Gulch a hit

I would like to extend a big thank you from myself and the Mount Sopris Nordic Council to all of you who came out and skied for Sisu at Spring Gulch on Sunday, Feb. 1.

We had a record turnout of 120 skiers, ranging in age from 2 to 96 years, who skied a total of 1,395 kilometers which, using our kilometer-year scoring, translates into an impressive 59,398 kilometer-years!

This year’s winners are: Most kilometers skied (all skied 42K): Jim Githens-Gilliam, Anne Marie Callahan-McPhee and Berit Bjerke-Daniels. Most kilo/years skied: Farland Fish and Githens-Gilliam. The most sponsor pledges: Callahan-McPhee.

We also owe a special thanks to Wells Fargo Bank for its very generous pledge of $2,000. Other thanks go to the people and businesses that gave donations for door prizes: Ajax Bike and Sports, The Village Smithy and Nina Schnipper of Peak Fitness.

Our volunteers were Dick Marsh, Lee Ann Eustis, Mark Chain, Paul Huttentower, Deb Diangelo, Eric Small, Betsy Rosolack, Penny Ridley and Linda Green. Our groomers, Bob and Don, did a great job of prepping the trail.

Once more, thanks to everyone who helped make this a great event!
