Aspen, CO ColoradoRuth Holman Smith passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, in Grand Junction. She was born Ruth Louise Holloway, Aug. 27, 1938, in Winfield, Kan., the first of eight children for Gilbert and Irene Holloway.

Louise came to Aspen in the early 1960s with her husband Wes Holman. She moved back to Kansas in 1963 but came back to the valley in 1968, where she lived and loved. She married Ralph Smith in 1990. She ran her own property management in Aspen for 35-plus years and was a member of the First Baptist Church (Crossroads) since its beginning. She loved to sing and was in several choirs in town. She was a giving person, friend to many and always had a smile. She was a pillar of faith, an inspiration to many and a friend to all. She was loved by many and will be surely missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ralph Smith and brother Kenney Holloway. She is survived by her parents, Gilbert and Irene Holloway of Aspen; her children, Butch Holman (DeDe) of Lubbock, Texas, Carl Holman of Aspen, Jimmie Holman (Diana) of Kalamazoo, Mich., Brian Holman (Kimberly) of Grand Junction, Robert Holman (Amy) of Kalamazoo, Joe Holman (Michelle) of Aspen, and Holly Holman of Lubbock; brothers Charles Holloway of Aspen, Jimmie Holloway (Joyce) of Gueda Springs, Kan., Roy Holloway (Jan) of Aspen, Bob Holloway (Becky) of Rapid City, S.D., and David Holloway (Paula) of New Castle; sister, Charlotte Anderson (Ronald) of Chipley, Fla.; sister-in-law Ann Holloway of Ardmore, Okla.; grandchildren, Jessica, Rachael, Eric, Hannah, Caitlin, Jason, Brandon, Cambrie, Megan and Tyler; three aunts, and 17 nieces and nephews.

Services will take place Thursday, Jan. 11, at Crossroads Church, 728 W. Francis St., beginning with a public viewing at noon. The funeral will commence at 1 p.m. with a celebration of life reception following.Her children ask that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pregnancy Resource Center in care of Jan Gessele, Gideons International or Crossroads Missions.
