On the Hill Summer, brought to you by The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, brings you a video report about a different High Country adventure every day.

Today’s activity: Floating through Northstar Nature Preserve

Conditions: Today, it’s hot. We’re taking a break from our hikes and bikes to cool off during the first major heat wave of the summer. We’re going to check out the floaters on the upper reaches of the Roaring Fork River through the Northstar Nature Preserve. Canoes, kayaks, inner tubes. And cool water.

Today’s weather: Mostly sunny, hot, with a high near 89. Light north wind at 5 mph. Slightly cooler temperatures and isolated showers forecast for the weekend.— National Weather Service
