Beautiful man....beautiful soul.
Longtime resident Sean Groover passed away peacefully after a 3 yr battle with colon cancer. Sean was a professional fly fishing guide who also had a passion for golf, paragliding, skiing, chess and poker. During his 30 yrs in Aspen he used his talents to captain the Aspen Mountain Challenge team, win the Aspen City Golf Championship twice, the 1995 Glenwood Open golf championship and the 1994 chess championship. He was a compassionate person who often worked to help anyone in need. Sean felt at home in the rivers, skies and mountains of the Roaring Fork Valley, but it was the people that he loved the most. This town lifted him; helping him to live the best life that he could during his last years and for that his family will always be grateful.
He is survived by his mother Betty Lou Groover, sister Melissa Keith, sister Shannon Stroobandt, sister Heather Fernandez, brother Duke Groover as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held in Aspen to be announced at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, P.O. Box 19023, Seattle WA 98109-1023. Checks may be made payable to SCCA with indication that they are in memory of Michael Sean Groover. Or call (877) 308-3117 to make a donation by phone.”
