Cheryl Kay Hamlin

April 10, 1967 - April 12, 2015

Cheryl Kay Hamlin, age 48, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2015. Born April 10, 1967 in Jefferson City, MO, Hamlin was a fifth generation Aspenite. She spent most of her adult life in the Roaring Fork Valley and had deep ties to the community. Over the years, she most enjoyed helping others while working in the nursing field. Cheryl was compassionate and giving to a fault. She was quick-witted, easy to laugh and truly beautiful inside and out. Her heart had a boundless capacity for love.

Cheryl left this world too soon. She was a beautiful flower that never fully blossomed, a butterfly who hadn’t quite figured out how to spread her wings and soar.

To quote her favorite song: “If one door opens to another door closed, / I hope you keep on walkin’ till you find the window,/ If it’s cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile.” Cheryl may not have found her window, but she warmed the world with her big beautiful smile.

She is now at peace and reunited with her son Joshua Fields in heaven. Cheryl is survived by her parents, Jim and Linda Hamlin; her sons, Christopher Hamlin, Andrew Meador and Hunter Long; her grandchildren, Matthew Fields and Ayden Fields; her sister Connie Power; her grandparents, Luetta Whitson and Eloise & Jack Ilgen; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Family, friends and others whose lives Cheryl has touched are invited to Crossroads Church, 726 W Francis St, Aspen, CO on Friday, April 17 at 4 PM to remember Cheryl Kay Hamlin.
