Music was Holloran’s gift
August 2, 2008
With sadness I write to offer words of sympathy on behalf of all of the parents and children lucky enough to have been touched by Mary Holloran.
Mary’s family, especially her boys and her husband, should be reminded by us that music, the great equalizer, was her gift to our children. She gave them the gift of movement as well, helping them to understand how dance and sound worked together. Many times we were happily surprised by the sweet sounds of our children’s voices at end of the year gatherings. We were encouraged and uplifted by the exuberance with which our children sang and danced, and those times were times parents relished.
Clearly, she cared for our kids; with patience and understanding, she brought out the best in them. We are all shocked and saddened, and we will miss her terribly. But we, as well as our children, will remember her, especially those who learned that it’s okay to “sing your little heart out!”
