Ruth’s Chris Steak House debuted with a bang over the weekend of Jan. 12-13, hosting VIP guests for a final dress rehearsal. As a pre-opening event, guests were invited to dine in the steak house’s chalet setting with complimentary fare.

When Ruth’s Chris Steak Houses open, they “christen” them in their most festive manner, honoring their New Orleans tradition. The jazz roots of New Orleans tied in nicely with their charity of choice for the opening weekend, Jazz Aspen Snowmass, who was designated as a recipient for donations made by diners. An award-winning wine list featuring more than 250 world-class labels will be available at the restaurant, though for the debut weekend just two vintages were offered, with all proceeds earmarked for Jazz Aspen Snowmass’ education programs.

According to manager Vince Lahey, approximately $5,000 was raised in donations over the two nights for JAS’s in-school programs.Diners raved about the savory flavors from the kitchen. From the osso bucco ravioli appetizer to the thousand island dressed salad to the cowboy steak to the banana cream pie, there is no dearth of mouth-watering items on the menu.

“Laissez-les bon temps rouler,” exclaimed Ruth’s Chris waiter Carleton Myers.

Aspen Young Professionals Association hosted an event on Jan. 15 at The Little Nell. The dinner and presentation with Mike Kaplan, the new CEO of the Skico drew much interest from Aspen’s younger set, selling out several days in advance. Kaplan discussed his entrée into the ski industry working jobs from lift operations to cat driving to ski instructing to marketing to the top as company president. The Aspen Art Museum’s Contemporaries enjoyed an evening with AAM Director and Chief Curator, Heidi Zuckerman Jacobson, and AAM Board President, Nancy Magoon, on Thursday, Jan. 18.

AAM Board Member and AAM Contemporaries Chairman Adam Frisch and his wife, Katy, hosted the evening at their home with Tuscan appetizers prepared by their house guest, Sandra Sbaragli, visiting from Italy.Zuckerman Jacobson presented a slide show, previewing the artists and exhibitions coming to the museum in the year ahead, why they were chosen and how they fit into the vision of the museum.
