Lane switch at No Name tonight
August 19, 2008
GLENWOOD SPRINGS ” Westbound traffic on Interstate 70 through No Name Tunnel will be switched from the outside lane to the inside (left) lane on Tuesday night.
The Colorado Department of Transportation is cautioning motorists to drive slowly and be alert for the shift in lanes and crews working at the site.
The switch will begin at about 11 p.m. and should be finished by Wednesday morning, according to CDOT. Concrete barrier work associated with the lane shift will continue Wednesday night and into Thursday.
Work is ongoing to rehabilitate the lining of the tunnel, located east of Glenwood Springs in Glenwood Canyon.
Single-lane closures in both directions are in place between mile markers 117 and 119, and motorists can expect slowed traffic and delays until the project’s scheduled completion in October. A width restriction of 14 feet is in place through the duration of the project.
Work began in September 2007 and was suspended for the winter in December. Tunnel work resumed in April 2008. CDOT has contracted with BTE Concrete Formwork LLC to perform the work.
