Help build a future for Community School
November 16, 2012
The mission of the Aspen Community School is “to foster lifelong learning.” We all know how important education is, and I would venture to say that our community is filled with people who consider themselves lifelong learners.
Yet, as a country, we are falling behind. Our children have to learn more and learn better. They have to discover a love for learning and carry it forward into their lives. This is what we foster at the Aspen Community School. I witness it every day: We are different and effective, and we have the data to back it up.
What sets us apart is our small size and our large vision. As a public charter school in the Aspen School District, offering tuition-free access to our high-quality education, we are home to a kindergarten-through-eighth-grade community of 127 students who are focused on community, responsibility, lifelong learning and social justice. Our curious learners are becoming engaged citizens, all the while consistently delivering outstanding performance on standardized tests. I believe that we are a model for what is right in education, in every area except for our facilities. We are one of Colorado’s highest-performing schools in one of its lowest-performing buildings.
If educational excellence in this country is important to you, we are making a difference, and you have a chance to be part of it.
