Ryan Summerlin February 7, 2013
BASALT – After-Hours Medical Care in Basalt will host a heart-health assessment from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 to help participants determine their risk for a heart attack in the next 10 years.
Included in the assessment are blood tests for lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL and LDL), blood sugar and liver function. In addition, there will be a blood-pressure check, body-mass index and “risk profile” questionnaire available. The blood tests require fasting for 12 hours with the exception of water.
The screenings are available for $20. Participants should schedule an appointment at www.avhaspen.org to reduce their wait time. Those without appointments will be accommodated as quickly as possible. Cash or check is necessary; no bank cards will be accepted.
Participants should follow up with their personal physicians regarding results.
After-Hours Medical Care, operated by Aspen Valley Hospital, is at 234 Cody Lane, on the south side of Highway 82. For more information, call 970-544-1296.
