Foundation provides great support

(This letter was originally addressed to Kris and other members of the Aspen Valley Medical Foundation.)

In 2003, you were extremely supportive of the perinatal department. We were given a grant to enhance our knowledge and skills by doing rotations at Littleton Hospital in labor and delivery and the neonatal intensive care unit at Children’s Hospital. This has been very helpful to the staff, and we will continue those rotations in the spring at University Hospital in Denver.

In addition, you helped us attain lactation certification for 11 of our staff nurses. This has truly brought about cohesive patient teaching as evidenced by comments from our patients on discharge and telephone call-back surveys. When asked about breast-feeding teaching, one patient recently said, “I had my last baby here two years ago and the information given this time was so much more consistent.” This is a measurable goal for our department in 2004.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us to improve the services that we provide to our littlest of patients.
