Dreams do come true

Dear Editor:I had the great pleasure [last month] of attending a small get-together at the Woody Creek Store to celebrate the closing of the Woody Creek Mobile Home Park by its resident homeowners association from the Aspen/Pitkin County Housing Authority. While there is considerable work to be done to install infrastructure improvements to the park and to complete sales of lots to the individual residents, this purchase marks a real watershed for those park residents, who now have ownership of their property. This is a goal some of them have been working toward for almost 20 years.I think it is important for us all to recognize and thank the many people whose hard work has made this possible. I won’t attempt to name them individually. The list is far too long, and I’d undoubtedly end up overlooking someone important. I do want to offer the sincere thanks of all the park residents to all of those individuals working over these past years with the Aspen/Pitkin County Housing Authority and Pitkin County, including commissioners, board members and staff, both past and present, for their hard work and determination to make this dream a reality. This is for perseverance and promises kept.Tim WhitsittBasalt
