FRISCO, Colo. ” A man charged with boating under the influence after his friend drowned last month in Dillon Reservoir faces a new charge of vehicular homicide.

Kevin Lukanski of Frisco was originally charged with boating under the influence after Adam Brown fell from the boat that Summit County sheriff’s officials say Lukanski was driving Aug. 6.

Rescuers found Brown’s body a few days later.

District Attorney Mark Hurlbert said Wednesday that Lukanski faces the new vehicular homicide charge because the case appeared to be more than an accident.

Vehicular homicide carries penalties of up to a $75,000 fine and four to 12 years in prison.

Lukanski is due in Summit County District Court on both charges Sept. 17.
