Carbondale meth maker pleads guilty
Glenwood Springs Post Independent
Chad Boulter, 26, of Carbondale, plead guilty Thursday to possession of supplies to manufacture a controlled substance, a class 3 felony.
Boulter’s plea deal calls for no prison time on a charge that can carry up to four years in prison with mandatory parole and fines up to $5,000.
Boulter was accused of manufacturing methamphetamine in his downtown apartment and told authorities he was planning to turn himself in when they caught up with him more than a week later.
Two felony counts of manufacture of a controlled substance and one count of felony possession of a controlled substance will be dropped as part of the agreement.
An attempt by the defense to have Boulter released on a personal recognizance bond after the plea was shut down by Judge Denise Lynch.
“It’s a very serious offense to put people at risk by making meth,” Lynch observed.
Boulter will return for sentencing on May 7.
