SNOWMASS ” Bud Light Big Air Fridays kick off this week at Fanny Hill at Snowmass and runs every week through April 6.

Local snowboarders and skiers can compete for a weekly prize purse of $1,050 while giving spectators a show during apres-ski. Practice is between 1 and 2 p.m., before the official competition from 2-3 p.m.

There will also be giveaways throughout the event, as well as live music on the Snowmass mall from 3-4:30 p.m., then a fireworks display.

The competition is a 40-minute jam session beginning at 2 p.m. Judges choose four skiers and four snowboarders to continue on to the finals. Finalists will have one jump and then be placed according to best trick.

Registration takes place from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on the day of the event at the base of the jump on Fanny Hill. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to 20 skiers and 20 snowboarders.
