Author Sandy Monro plans appearances

Aspen Times staff report
Aspen, CO Colorado

ASPEN – Roaring Fork Valley author Sandy Munro will appear for two events for “Finding Uri,” his debut book. The memoir details his discovery of and reading a box of letters written in the 1940s between his father, Uri, a Navy pilot who died in the Pacific during World War II, and his mother.

Munro will appear at 5 p.m. Tuesday for a talk and book-signing at Explore Booksellers in Aspen. Bill Stirling, a former mayor of Aspen, will moderate the talk.

On Monday, Aug. 29, at 5:30 p.m., Munro will be at the Basalt Regional Library, with Aspen Times columnist Paul Andersen moderating the talk.

“Finding Uri” was published in June by the locally based People’s Press. The book, in addition to documenting how Munro unexpectedly got a fuller look at his long-deceased father, touches on the military, family history, music and the close relationship Munro developed with his paternal grandfather.
