Aspen Valley Hospital will interview two CEO finalists Monday

Staff report

Aspen Valley Hospital’s board of directors will publicly interview the two finalists for the facility’s CEO from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Oden Conference Center.

The board will determine the next CEO at its next regularly scheduled board meeting, set for Oct. 14. The CEO position has been held on an interim basis by board member John Sarpa since David Ressler resigned from his post in April to take a job in Tucson, Ariz.

The finalists were selected by a search committee — composed of hospital board members Dr. Barry Mink and David Eisenstat; two members of the medical staff, Dr. Chris Beck and Dr. Greg Balko; and three community members, Cristal Logan, Markey Butler and George Newman — along with executive search firm Witt/Kieffer, based in Oak Brook, Ill.

Approximately 40 resumes were screened by Witt/Kieffer, followed by 13 interviews with prospective candidates, according to an Aspen Valley Hospital statement issued Thursday. In July, nine candidates were presented on paper to the hospital search committee.

“The process has been thorough, and we were extremely pleased with the caliber of all the candidates considered by the search committee,” Mink said in a prepared statement. “Each brought a wealth of experience and knowledge, and narrowing the field to the two finalists was a daunting task. Making the final selection will be a difficult decision.”
