Aspen is one of the “Best Places to Visit in the USA,” according to new vacation-destination rankings for 2014-15 by U.S. News and World Report.
The rankings, released Tuesday, identify top vacation spots based on methodology that combines expert and consumer opinions. The list came out as part of the regional rankings that are released alongside the “World’s Best Places to Visit” rankings.
The rankings put Aspen in the No. 20 spot on the top-20 list and say that the “scenic mountain town is straight out of a snow globe, featuring picturesque mountain chalets hugged by the soaring Colorado Rockies.”
The list provides money-saving tips for visitors, which for Aspen include opting for package deals on hotels and skiing, booking early and enjoying the surroundings provided by Mother Nature.
The rankings focus mainly on Aspen’s draw as a winter destination and encourage readers to look beyond initial sticker shock.
“No matter how you choose to spend your time here, it will be a vacation you’ll never forget,” according to the rankings. “In the words of the legendary John Denver, ‘Smiling faces all around; Laughter is the only sound; Memories that can’t grow old; Winter’s gold, Aspenglow.’”
