A successful year

Dear Editor:As many in the community may know, it has been my honor and privilege to be the president of the Aspen Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation these past two years. Over these years, the foundation has made incredible strides increasing the strength and depth of its board of directors, its volunteer base and its fundraising ability. This has enabled us to reach out to and educate more and more of our population and provide screening and mammograms to every patient in need.It has also enabled us to help all of the local hospitals acquire the latest equipment and maintain the highest levels of certifications for its technicians. Our organization is working harder than ever to bring the highest level of care and information into our service area and I am proud of the progress we have made. While I would love to take credit for this progress, I know that it would not have been possible without the incredible level of support we have received from this community, my board of directors and all of the volunteers who gave selflessly of their time. So, as I ring in the new year and reflect on the future, I felt that I needed to take a moment and thank everyone who has made our efforts such a success. The new year brings a new president, Elaine Grossman. I know that she is capable of reaching even greater heights. As I, and the rest of the board, help her succeed, I am secure in the knowledge that she has a fabulous board of directors, great volunteers and the best in community support to assist her.Thank you all, and happy new year!Lillian VillanovaPast presidentAspen Affiliate of the Susan G.
