On the Hill: With the Silver Queen Gondola down for two days, it's a good time to explore the Shadow side

On the Hill, brought to you by The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, brings you a video report showcasing Aspen's ski conditions every day.

Aspen official report: No new snow overnight. 5" in the past week.

Aspen Times field report: The Silver Queen Gondola on Aspen Mountain is down for repairs until New Years Day. Heads up. Alternatives are 1A and the Nell chair.

Liftline status: Gondola is broken, lines starting to form on the other bottom lifts. Lift lines are not so bad up top today.

Breakdown: Today is a good opportunity to explore the Shadow Mountain side of the hill. The snow is starting to get a little bare in spots, especially in the steeper black and double black runs that aren't groomed. Still, skiing is skiing and we have had a fantastic start to the season in terms of snow quality and quantity.

Snowcast: NOAA is forecasting a weak storm to move in to the area from Tuesday through Thursday, with a 30% chance of snow each day. After that it appears as though we will be in a high pressure system through this coming weekend.
