To ring in her 30th birthday, Ashley Rankin, of Aspen, threw a murder-mystery party on Nov. 23. The setting was The Living Room at the Hotel Jerome, the requested attire was white, and the rules were quite precise. As guests RSVP’d, they were each sent a character sheet containing their identity and all the information needed to play their part at the party. They also learned about the deceased whose will would be read at the party, revealing the initial details of others expected to attend and clues as to who just might be the murderer. Upon arrival at the Jerome, all were presented with two envelopes with further instruction and $500 in play money to use for bribery and blackmail to gather more details. Nearly 80 guests took part in the antics, bedecked in white all night in Ashley’s honor.
“I was so impressed with how dedicated everyone was to the white theme while also playing their characters fabulously,” the birthday girl said. “What better way to welcome a new decade than to spend the night with your favorite people under one roof enjoying bribery, sharing secrets and ending in a murder?”
