The Aspen Choral Society is looking for singers for its 36th annual local performances of Handel’s “Messiah.” The work will be presented Dec. 3 and 4 in Glenwood Springs, Dec. 6 and 7 in Aspen and Dec. 8 in Snowmass Village.
Rehearsals will be held in Aspen from 7 to 9 on Tuesday nights at Christ Episcopal Church beginning Oct. 22. For downvalley singers, rehearsals will be held in Glenwood Springs from 7 to 9 on Monday nights at First United Methodist Church beginning Oct. 21. No auditions are necessary to participate in the performances.
This year’s performances of the work will be the first since the death of Ray Adams, who conducted the performances since the 1970s and who founded the Aspen Choral Society in 1995. Succeeding Adams as choir director is Paul Dankers, who is also the music director of the Snowmass Chapel.
