Skier hospitalized after tree collision on Aspen Mountain

Staff report

A skier who collided with a tree Wednesday on Aspen Mountain was taken to Aspen Valley Hospital with unknown injuries, sources said.

The call for an ambulance was made to the Pitkin County Dispatch Center at 12:20 p.m., a dispatcher said.

Jeff Hanle, spokesman for Aspen Skiing Co., said initial information indicated the injuries were not life-threatening. He had no other information to release late Wednesday afternoon.

“We do not generally report on every accident that takes place on the hill, as there are skier vs. tree collisions quite often,” Hanle said in an email. “Fortunately the majority of them are not serious.”
