ASPEN SKI COMPANY OFFICIAL REPORT: 0″ in the past 24 hours, 0″ in 48 hours and 10″ in the last 7 days. High of 65°, low of 28°.
ASPEN TIMES FIELD REPORT: At 9am this morning the snow is so firm and crunchy that you can barely hear my comentary over the sound of my board raking over the icy groomers. As the day heats up, that corse sound will be replaced by a smooth hiss as the snow softens considerably. By the afternoon, the lower mountain conditions will be like skiing in 4″ of wet, heavy powder. My guess is that the snow will probably stay pretty nice up top. Good coverage over all, some bare spots where you’d expect them. Lots of sun = lots of sun block, people! Spring like conditions everyone. Exercise caution & ski accordingly.
LIFT LINE STATUS: Silver Queen Gondola was open before 9am this morning and no waiting.
LISTENING TO: “I Walk the Line” by Johnny Cash was playing in the red gondola that I rode up this morning. A good tune to start the day with!
