Contractor correcting mistake on Mill Street near Rio Grande Park

A construction crew is working on Mill Street near Rio Grande Park to correct a mistake after it incorrectly poured concrete for a sidewalk, curb and gutter.

The contractor, Aspen Digger, will incur any additional costs, and the construction schedule for the project has not changed, according to Tyler Christoff, of the city’s Engineering Department.

“The city has asked the contractor to correct this mistake. This section should be completed in the next week or so,” Christoff said. “This is not changing the schedule, as the contractor is working on the scheduled work as well as the incorrectly poured concrete simultaneously. There should be no detours associated with this work.”

The project includes utility upgrades on Mill Street as well as a stormwater quality diversion structure for Rio Grande Park. Improvements include waterlines and a future connection for raw water and electric conduits. Christoff said the city is currently working on the water-quality treatment vault and diversion structure that will provide water to Rio Grande Park.
