Billionaire philanthropist and NextGen Climate founder Tom Steyer will speak at the 11th American Renewable Energy Day Summit, scheduled for Aug. 10 to 13 in Aspen.
The announcement was made Monday by Chip Comins, chairman and CEO of the American Renewable Energy Institute, which puts on the event.
Steyer will participate in the panel “Can a Political Agenda Be Achieved that Meets the Urgency of the Climate Change Crisis?” at 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 12. Other panelists include League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski and Larry Schweiger, former president of the National Wildlife Federation.
Steyer also will participate in an armchair conversation titled “Politics, Climate Change and History” with author, historian and Rice University professor Douglas Brinkley at 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 13.
Steyer will receive this year’s American Renewable Energy Institute Climate Hero Award at the summit.
