A Silt woman remained missing Wednesday, five days after she exited a bus in El Jebel, according to her daughter.
Claudia Ruiz, 44, got on a Roaring Fork Transportation Authority bus in Glenwood Springs at about 9 a.m. Saturday, according to her daughter, Jennehii Ruiz. The bus was bound for Aspen, but a review of the video from an on-bus camera showed Claudia Ruiz exited at El Jebel, Jennehii said. The Ruiz family has no friends or family in El Jebel, so Claudia Ruiz’s decision to get off the bus there is perplexing, Jennehii Ruiz said.
Her family plastered the Roaring Fork Valley and lower Colorado River Valley with fliers about the missing woman.
“We’ve just been trying to get the word out to the public,” Jennehii Ruiz said.
The family also has talked to numerous law enforcement agencies in the valley, she said.
The daughter said her mother is mentally ill and needs to take medication. Claudia Ruiz hasn’t had access to that medication for more than 72 hours, so the family is particularly worried.
Members of the missing woman’s church have been searching for her throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.
The missing woman, whose maiden name is Perez, was described as 5 feet, 2 inches and 180 pounds with brown hair with blond highlights and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue windbreaker, a white shirt and sandals.
The flier asks anyone with information to contact Jennehii Ruiz at 970-618-4454. They can also contact their local police department.
