Aspen Kids First events set for April and May

Kids First is celebrating “Month of the Young Child” with a variety of events in April and May including the following open houses in which parents can visit teachers and staff while observing children in their learning environments: Monday, 9:30 a.m. — Early Childhood Center, Woody Creek

Tuesday, 10 a.m. — Growing Years, Basalt

Tuesday, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. — Early Learning Center, Aspen Thursday, April 24, 5 to 6 p.m. — Aspen Mountain Tots, Aspen and Wildwood, Aspen

May 1 is the deadline to apply for financial aid through Kids First, which is funded through a .45 percent city of Aspen sales tax.

Additionally, at 10 a.m. on May 7, Kids First will sponsor “Read With Me Day” at all 21 Pitkin County licensed childcare facilities (visit www.aspenpitkin.com/kidsfirst for locations). Also, at 10 a.m. on May 29, the Annual Children’s Parade will take place begin in front of Boogie’s Diner. Children will walk in the parade with their childcare programs and families are invited to join the parade or to cheer and spectate.
