The cause of death is undetermined.

According to a press release issued at 6:47 a.m., “Snowmass Ski Patrol was called at 1:50 p.m. by another skier. The man was unconscious and unresponsive when Patrol arrived at the scene. They began advanced life saving procedures and continued their efforts as he was transported to a waiting ambulance. The man was a skier and was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.”

It was the fourth death within in-bounds Skico areas this ski season. The previous three accidents involved the victims running into trees.
