Photo: A law in the making

On Tuesday in Denver, the Senate Transportation Committee voted unanimously to approve House Bill 1021, the bill that would increase the fine imposed on drivers of commercial vehicles who violate a road closure or restriction on Independence Pass. The bill still needs to go through second and third readings on the Senate Floor, which could happen as soon as this week. If there's no opposition, the bill will go into effect on Aug. 6 of this year with new signs to go up on Oct. 1.
