Jazz Aspen Snowmass on Thursday announced its complete lineup of summer artists for the third full season of its JAS Cafe series.
The series includes an eclectic mix of jazz and world music including vocalists and instrumentalists from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Tickets for the series are on sale now at 866-527-8499 or www.jazz aspensnowmass.org. Individual show tickets range from $35 to $45, while a series pass to the four shows of your choice is available at a $40 discount. Show times are 7 and 9:15 p.m.
• The series kicks off on June 26 and 27 with jazz vocalist Rene Marie in a new program, “With Love to Eartha Kitt,” a swinging and sultry romp through material associated with the legendary singer and entertainer.
• On July 2 and 3, Grammy-nominated vocalist Tierney Sutton returns to the cafe with a new program featuring a tribute to a vocalist with a very different style. The show is titled “After Blue: A Tribute to Joni Mitchell.”
On July 6 and 7, the series will feature multiple Grammy winner, highly acclaimed percussionist and master of Afro-Cuban music Poncho Sanchez. He will bring a fiery nine-piece ensemble.
Celebrating the music of French Gypsy Jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, the Django Reinhardt NY Festival comes to the cafe on July 24 and 25. The festival has been featured at New York’s Birdland Jazz Club for the past nine years.
• Jamaican jazz piano virtuoso Monty Alexander returns on Aug. 8 and 9 for an encore performance of his Harlem Kingston Express show honoring the music of Bob Marley, as seen through a jazz prism.
• The summer series will conclude on Aug. 15 and 16 with the smooth-crooning jazz-pop guitarist and vocalist John Pizzarelli and his band.
A special pre-show and post-show three-course menu will be available at Ajax Tavern for $34. Additionally, The Little Nell bar menu will be available during all JAS Cafe performances. Doors for the 7 p.m. show will open at 6 p.m., allowing guests more time to dine.
