Aspen Valley Hospital

Health fair is Thursday

Aspen Valley Hospital will host its first health fair of the year from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at After-Hours Medical Care, 234 Cody Lane, Basalt.

The fair, titled “Matters of the Heart,” will focus on heart health. Blood work includes a lipid profile (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, and LDL), fasting blood sugar and liver function tests (AST and ALT).

Participants should fast for 12 hours prior to having their blood drawn, with the exception of water. Also offered are height-weight-body-mass index and blood pressure. A heart health self-risk appraisal will be provided as well.

Work restrictions on Presidents Day

Construction work in Aspen will be restricted on Presidents Day, Feb. 17. Construction crews on projects located in the Central Resort Area are not permitted to do any exterior work that day. Interior work is permitted with prior approval from the city of Aspen’s Engineering Department. Projects that are outside the Central Resort Area can continue under regular regulations.
