Nonprofit organization hosts creative way to remember loved ones

SNOWMASS VILLAGE - Hospice of the Valley is inviting families to learn how to make remembrance bears in memory of a loved one.

Patients or family members choose a special article of clothing that a hospice volunteer creates into a bear.

Those interested in learning how to make the keepsakes are invited to a free class at the Glenwood Springs Sewing Center at 1 p.m. on April 9. Sharon Andersen, a Hospice of the Valley bear maker and volunteer, will teach the class.

Knowledge of sewing-machine use and cutting and marking fabric is necessary. A pattern and article of clothing will be provided.

The class is limited to 12 people, and pre-registration is required. Call Wendy Steckler, volunteer coordinator, at 970-279-5503.
