High Alpine lift closed

SNOWMASS VILLAGE - The High Alpine lift in Snowmass will close for the remainder of the season due to a worn bullwheel bearing, Aspen Skiing Co. said April 1.

Skico said the worn bearing was discovered early and posed no safety issues. In the meantime, all of the terrain serviced by the High Alpine lift will remain open, including all of the terrain in the Hanging Valley Wall. Guests can access all runs by taking either the Sheer Bliss or Big Burn lifts to the Cirque lift. After riding the Cirque lift to the summit, the High Traverse accesses all of the terrain in the Wall, Green Cabin, Reidar's, Showcase and The Edge.

The lift will be repaired this summer and return to operation next season, Skico said.
