SNOWMASS VILLAGE - A man killed while skiing on Snowmass ski area on Friday has been identified as David Schreitmueller, of Kensington, Md.
The 42-year-old died an accidental death from multiple injuries, according to the Pitkin County Coroner's Office. Schreitmueller collided with a tree on the Coney Glade run and was unresponsive and unconscious when ski patrol arrived.
Schreitmueller was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, according to Aspen Skiing Co. He was at Snowmass to compete in the NASTAR National Championship over the weekend but was not on course at the time of the incident.
