CARBONDALE - The Roaring Fork High School girls soccer team scored four first-half goals and powered past Basalt, 5-0, on Tuesday afternoon in Carbondale.
"It was not our best showing," Basalt head coach Makenzie Eshelman said. "We were flat; we were not organized."
Nayeli Alfaro scored two goals for Roaring Fork
(1-0-1). She also had two assists for the Rams.
"They are a very talented team. That No. 7 (Alfaro) is very, very talented," Eshelman said.
The Longhorns bounced back after halftime and held Roaring Fork to a single goal.
"We had a little chat at halftime, and we came out and played much better in the second half," Eshelman said. "They only got one goal, and that was off a corner."
The Longhorns (0-1-1) will play at Coal Ridge in New Castle on Thursday afternoon.
