Ed Lucks Day

SNOWMASS VILLAGE - This image shows friends honoring ski instructor Ed Lucks, second from right, with a special "Ed Lucks Day" party at Snowmass on Feb. 28, 1991. Lucks, who worked part time as a pharmacist for Sundance Drug and as an instructor, is widely regarded for his work with disabled skiers and pioneering adaptive teaching techniques and equipment. He worked closely in the early 1990s with Houston Cowan, one of the co-founders of Challenge Aspen, which formed in 1995. Joining Lucks were, left to right, Bob Shook, Jeff Lucks and Barbara Shook.

Editor's note: This page is a partnership between the Snowmass Sun and the Aspen Historical Society with two primary goals in mind: to improve the knowledge of Snowmass history in the region and to collect historic photographs of the Snowmass region for the society. If you have pieces of history to donate, please send them to archives@aspenhistory.org or call 970-925-3721
