Aspen Times, Snowmass Sun win awards

DENVER - The Aspen Times, Aspen Times Weekly and Snowmass Sun took home various honors Saturday at the Colorado Press Association's annual awards banquet, held in Denver. The awards were based on the publications' work from Sept. 1, 2011, through Aug. 31, 2012.The Aspen Times took the following awards: first place, Best Feature Page Design, Jon Maletz; second place, Best Serious Column Writing, Su Lum; second place, Best Website-Daily-Community; second place, Best Deadline News Reporting, Rick Carroll; second place, Best News Story, Rick Carroll; second place, Best Humorous Column Writing, Roger Marolt; third place, Best Newspaper/House Ad Promotion, Gunilla Asher; third place, Best Website-Daily-Advertising; third place, Best Serious Column Writing, Todd Hartley; third place, Best Editorial Writing, Andre Salvail and Rick Carroll; third place, Best Sports Event Story, Jon Maletz.The Aspen Times Weekly was honored for the following: first place, Best Restaurant or Dining Ad; first place, Best Real Estate Ad; first place, Best Sports Story, Amanda Charles; first place, Best Editorial Layout & Design, Afton Groepper, Ryan Slabaugh and Evan Gibbard; second place, Best Newspaper/House Ad Promotion; second place, Best Health Feature Story, Stewart Oksenhorn; second place, Best Education Story, Jeanne McGovern; second place, Best Serious Column Writing, Ryan Slabaugh; second place, Best Investigative Story Package, Andy Godfrey; third place, Best Newspaper/House Ad Promotion; third place, Best Cover Design, Afton Groepper; third place, Best Agriculture Story, Scott Condon, Linda Hayes and Amiee White-Beazley.The Snowmass Sun received the following accolades: first place, Best Editorial Cartoon-Weekly, Rob Pudim; first place, Best Web-Weekly- Content; first place, Best Website-Weekly-Community; second place, Best Sports Photograph, Laura Sugaski; second place, Best Headline Writing, Ryan Slabaugh; second place, Best Advertising Special Section; third place, Best Health Feature Story, Jill Beathard; third place, Best Humorous Column Writing, Roger Marolt.
