Mardi Gras, Snowmass style

SNOWMASS VILLAGE - "Mardi Gras, Snowmass Style" claimed a headline in the Aspen Times Feb.13, 1986. "Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras, was celebrated in Snowmass Village with a parade down the mall and a masquerade party at the Conference Center. The event was filmed by a New Orleans television station for live broadcast back home, and the folks out at Snowmass showed them how to whoop it up in the Rockies. And all those guests from Loosana were made to feel right at home amid the celebration." Photographer Devon Meyers.

Editor's note: This page is a partnership between the Snowmass Sun and the Aspen Historical Society with two primary goals in mind: to improve the knowledge of Snowmass history in the region and to collect historic photographs of the Snowmass region for the society. If you have pieces of history to donate, please send them to archives@aspenhistory.org or call 970-925-3721.
